Cutout has designed and manufactured this specialty laser cut custom Corten rusted steel sign for a property near Berwick in Victoria. This sign has been fixed between supports, rather than directly onto which would create visible front face fixtures. Our metal workers have used rusted Mild Steel RHS and our hand-made Mild Steel inserts with beveled edges to finish this specialty free-standing sign. |

This custom designed Corten (rusted steel) ‘PAMBULA’ laser CUTOUT house name plate is illuminated beautifully with light from behind. Our galvanised steel spacers have been used by our client in Perth, WA. These steel spacers have set this house name plate off her rendered wall providing sufficient space for the light fixture. By setting this laser cut panel slightly off the rendered wall, our spacers also prevent any discolouration from rust leaching. During the day when this laser cut sign is not lit you can see there is a section of this Corten sign that is spliced onto a backing Corten panel. Our specialty splicing technique means that a more subtle laser cut design is visible, but not see through. Our spliced concepts are all done by hand; our own blacksmith achieves this using a large anvil incorporating traditional techniques which have been practiced for centuries. |

If you are interested in incorporating this specialty spliced steel method into your own project keep in mind all of our designs can be produced in this way. Please visit our illustrative designs page to view our Australian native flora designs which are especially intended for this purpose. This specialty option is suited perfectly to privacy screens and balustrades where vision through a laser cut screen or panel is not always wanted. For other examples of this splicing technique please visit our Decorative screens page. |

This Corten rusted steel sign for Smugglers Cove in Malua Bay NSW has been left as a flat sheet so the sign can wrap around the curved rock wall behind. This laser cut sign has been fixed from behind so no fixtures are visible from the front face. |
|
This project posed some interesting challenges in regard to attaching Corten steel to a corrugated iron wall and ensuring no rust leaching would occur over time. Galvanised steel RHS rails have been fabricated which set the sign slightly off the wall, thus eliminating this potential rust leaching problem. |

Notice how fixtures are not prominent on this sign, giving the impressing it is floating off the surface of the wall. This feature sign is a fine example of CUTOUTs ability to custom design and manufacture solutions for our clients in any situation. |
